Morgana University

Morgana University is considered the world's foremost authority on the study and practice of Alchemy. The University's resident scholars are responsible for many technological breakthroughs, and Albion's most influential and respected scientists were raised within its walls. It sits within the environs of Arturia and is the center of that city's University District.

History

The history of the University stretches far back into antiquity — both it and the Temple have been part of the city since anyone can remember, and were possibly there since before the city was built. Nearly every new Master of the school has added rooms or a new wing as he saw fit, so Morgana is considerably larger than it once was. The only parts of the building that seem to be original are the Clocktower, the Observatory, and the Great Hall. The current headmaster, NAMEHERE, is capable and popular, but came to his position in a gruesome way (see Whitcombe Incident).

Students

For aspiring alchemists and inventors, there's no better place to be than Morgana University. Students receive complete academic instruction, including but not limited to alchemy, chemistry, philosophy, and astrology. Graduation from Morgana assures a young man will be able to find some kind of useful, paying work. Women are a rare sight at the University — in fact, apart from the hired help, there has never been a female student. Not because of any specific rule, but because none have ever expressed an interest - higher learning considered distressingly unladylike.

Scholars

'Scholar' is the umbrella term for graduates from the University, although it's generally only used by the resident research Fellows who continue to live on campus and participate in the University's official studies. Scholars have been responsible for nearly ever significant advance in technology for hundreds of years.

The Building

Morgana University is, to the people who live in or around it, more of a living creature than a building. Every administration tends to add a wing or an outbuilding, and many of the outer classrooms are obviously old houses that have been swallowed up by the school's expansion. Each new part of the University is in a different style than the last, so the entire place resembles an archetectural patchwork, belching various colors of smoke and steam from its chimneys and towers. Vast catacombs stretch under the building, and their sheer expansiveness lends credibility to the rumor that Morgana and the Temple may have once been part of one enormous complex, straddling the Tamesis River.
