The Myrddin Temple of the Nine, mostly known as the Temple, serves more as an economic hub than a center of worship. Young nobles will often spend their early lives here, training as Clerics. The Temple is responsible for the production of Cores, the source of energy used in all Albian technology. As far as anyone knows, the Temple is the only place in the world capable of making Cores, and as such puts Albion in a prime economic position.
History
Like the university, the Temple of the Nine has been in Arturia as long as anyone can remember. It was, at one point, a true spiritual icon, with smaller temples scattered throughout the countryside. The religious aspect of the Temple went out of style at around the same time as the industrial revolution led to the expanded use of Cores, and so the Temple changed with the times. Always a conservative political force, the current High Council is particularly so, led by the Temple Speaker NAMEHERE.
Clerics
Clerics are the low-level students at the Temple, but the name is misleading as these young men and women learn little to nothing about the actual production of energy Cores. This stage of learning is primarily focused on teaching the students 'softer' subjects and social graces. One thing about these Clerics that stays the same all along the Temple's line of power is their appearance — both males and females wear crisp white uniforms, and the boys wear their hair in queues.
Wizards
No women are allowed to progress to the level of Wizard. Temple Wizards are the ones responsible for the actual production of energy Cores. They often live eventful social lives, but their Temple activities are kept secret from the public at large. They're paid ridiculously well, and are some of the more respectable members of society.
The Nine
The Council of the Nine is the governing body of the Temple. Their members are referred to as either "High Wizards" or "Councilors". They collectively decide on Temple policy, and communicate to the Albian government and the public in general via their elected leader, known as the Temple Speaker.
Political Influence
Considering the Temple holds a monopoly on the only reliable power source in the world, they hold considerable sway in all levels of government. The Temple Speaker has the ear of both the royal family and the Prime Minister, and has so far used his power with prudence — if you count as prudence making the largest possible profit. Cores are only sold to those who can afford them, and countries that Albion is displeased with suffer exorbitant taxes on their Core supply.
